Discover Damon's Grill

Walking into Damon's Grill for the first time, I was struck by how comfortably it fits into the rhythm of Hazleton life. Sitting at 10 Woodbine St, Hazleton, PA 18202, United States, this place feels like the kind of diner locals recommend without hesitation. I stopped by on a busy Friday evening, and within minutes it was clear why the parking lot was full and why the staff moved with calm confidence. There’s an easy balance here between casual dining and a polished operation that knows exactly what it’s doing.

The menu leans heavily into classic American grill favorites, and that’s not a bad thing. Ribs, burgers, steaks, and hearty appetizers dominate the lineup, all presented without unnecessary flair. During my visit, I ordered the ribs after a server explained the slow-cooking process they use, which involves low heat and steady timing to lock in moisture. The result lived up to the promise: fall-off-the-bone ribs with a smoky flavor that didn’t overpower the meat. According to the National Restaurant Association, nearly 60 percent of diners say flavor consistency is their top priority when choosing a restaurant, and this kitchen clearly understands that expectation.

What stood out just as much as the food was the pace of service. Even with a full dining room, orders came out hot and on time. I’ve managed restaurant floors in the past, and that kind of flow doesn’t happen by accident. It’s usually the result of tight coordination between front-of-house and kitchen staff, clear prep systems, and experienced leadership. Damon’s Grill seems to operate with those fundamentals firmly in place, which shows in both the dining experience and the steady stream of positive reviews online.

Another detail that deserves attention is cleanliness. Tables were cleared quickly, restrooms were spotless, and the open areas of the kitchen looked well maintained. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention often emphasizes that visible cleanliness strongly influences diner trust, and it’s hard not to feel at ease when a restaurant takes these basics seriously. While I didn’t tour the back-of-house, the visible signs point to solid food safety practices.

Families, couples, and solo diners all seemed equally comfortable here. I chatted briefly with a couple at the next table who said they stop in at least twice a month because the menu has enough variety to keep things interesting. One of them mentioned the friendly neighborhood vibe, and that phrase stuck with me because it sums up the atmosphere perfectly. It’s relaxed without feeling dated, lively without being loud.

Portion sizes are generous, which matches what many diners expect from a grill-style restaurant. Research from Cornell University’s Food and Brand Lab has shown that perceived value often increases when portions feel satisfying without being excessive. My plate hit that sweet spot, leaving me full but not overwhelmed. Prices align well with the quality and quantity, making it an easy choice for regular visits rather than a once-in-a-while splurge.

While no restaurant is flawless, the only limitation I noticed was wait time during peak hours. On weekends, arriving a bit earlier can save you from standing around. Still, that’s a small trade-off for a place that consistently delivers good food, reliable service, and a welcoming environment. Damon’s Grill has clearly earned its reputation in Hazleton by focusing on the fundamentals, listening to customer feedback, and sticking to what works.

  • Went out for a thanksgiving get together with the family, “Brittany” was our server. She was excellent at her job, we had a small issue with one of our food platters & “Lisa”, the manager, addressed it immediately and got the issue taken care of, very professional & understanding of the situation. Will definitely be back, thank you Damon’s for an enjoyable night out!… ribs are fall off the bone amazing!

  • My sister and I just stopped in to Damon‘s Grill in Hazleton Pennsylvania the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The host and the bartender/server were very accommodating and super friendly. And the food was much better than we had expected. Especially the French onion soup! Best one we’ve had in a long time. Shout out to this place. Glad we stopped…

  • Plenty of food and service was great. Disappointed on the “baked” Mac and cheese. Too much cream and not baked, needed more cheese. Also, way over priced at $6 for a small cup.

  • Damons is great! Every time we stop by the staff is super friendly and the food is always delicious. Plenty of food and drink options with Coke products and a kids menu that covers all the basics. We live about an hour away but don't mind the drive for the excellent service.

  • From my bf's pov, they made a 11/10 chicken wings. Their special secret sauce was a topper. You don't need Bleu or ranch dressing to follow up. As for my meal... it was... fine. Had the blackened salmon with baked potato and Ceasar Salad. The salmon was on the dry side. I had to use the salad to give flavor and moisture. Other than that, the waitress was very friendly and delightful. It might be an off service, but will go back to try again. 7/10 Will go back for the chicken
